Medway Big Ride
We are inviting you to register for the Medway Big Ride.
This is your chance to ride around a large proportion of the official race course on closed roads through Rochester.
The mass participation ride runs from 2.30pm to 3.30pm on Sunday, 21 July.
Registered riders will be able to join the ride at any time during that window and complete as many laps of the course as they wish. The laps will start and finish on Boley Hill and take in St Margaret’s Road, Vines Lane, Crow Lane and the High Street.
About the Event
Bikes will take over the historic cobbled streets of Rochester on Sunday, 21 July as Medway plays host to some of the nation’s top riders.
Rochester is the host venue for the HSBC UK | National Circuit Championships 2019, one of the highlights of the national road racing calendar for the UK’s top elite male and female riders.
The riders will race on a looping 1.6km course around the heart of Rochester, starting and finishing on the Esplanade. Previous winners of the race include World and Olympic champions.
Medway Council is staging a Medway Big Ride Festival alongside the Circuit Championships, giving local residents, visiting cycling enthusiasts and invited British Cycling club riders the chance to ride on the race route and enjoy a day of cycling activities.
An event village will open in Rochester Castle Gardens from 12pm. Club and mass participation rides will take place on the race route during the afternoon. The climax of the event comes with the elite women’s and men’s races at 5pm and 6.30pm respectively.
The Castle Gardens will host family activities, cycling fun including a pump track, cycling stunt shows, British Cycling Go Ride and Ready Set Ride balance bike skills, plus trade stalls, food and more. Spectators will then be able to line the route to support the elite riders.
